The premiere of MacGyver delivered the highest ratings for a drama series on AXN since 2012. The highly anticipated action series premiered on Thursday, September 29 at 9:45pm and emerged as the #1 show for English general entertainment channels in the Philippines.

Paying homage to the original series, MacGyver stars Lucas Till as a 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives.

“Pinoy Boyband Superstar” is currently the most watched weekend program in the country, and it’s not hard to see why. The program is teeming with cuteness, charm, and talent from aspiring heartthrobs, who have to impress girls and superstar judges Vice Ganda, Sandara Park, Yeng Constantino, and Aga Muchlach on the audition stage.

But while all these wanna-be boyband members dream of getting into the showbiz industry, they do it not just for themselves, but also for people who matter to them. We, viewers, are given a glimpse of who these boys are and what they’re fighting for – whether they want to give a better life for their family and where they get their inspiration from.

Here are five heartwarming stories that prove that these boys are more than meets the eye:

1) Aeiou sings for his mom

Twenty-year-old Aieou Villanueva lost his dad to cancer at the age of four. So now, he is doing his best to take care of and is paying for the medical expenses of his mom, who suffers from different illnesses and needs to undergo therapy.

In his audition, Aieou sings his parents’ ‘theme song’ and dedicates it to his mom, bringing Sandara and Yeng to tears.

2) Anthony reunites with his father Boom

“Kahit parang stranger siya sa akin, I see so much of myself in him,” said Anthony Labrusca of his dad, actor Boom Labrusca, who he never had much of relationship with while growing up. It’s the first time they had ever seen each other in years, and no one knew what to expect from their reunion, with Anthony’s mom present too.

But all was well in the end, with Boom praising his son and telling him how proud he is of him.

3) Wilbert calls his mom his number one supporter

Nineteen-year-old Wilbert Rosalyn never saw his biological dad. In fact, he said he joined “Pinoy Band Superstar” because he wants to get to know his father and prove himself to him. “Ito ‘yung anak niya ngayon na dapat niyang ipagmalaki sa lahat, hindi ‘yung iwan,” he said tearfully.

Although he said there is a missing part in him because of his father, he has his mom whom she considers his number one supporter. In his audition, he declared his love for his mom and said, “Sa lahat ng success at failures ko, andun siya lagi.”

4) Tim conquers his fears

Tim Feller did not pass his audition in front of the superstar judges, but his audition sent a message to people with insecurities who are too scared to try something: Just do it.

Before appearing in the show, he had never performed in front of other people. His mother, who had not even heard him sing, was emotional the whole time.

“More than the chance of being able to pass this audition, ang mahalaga ay nagsisimula ka na sa isang bagay na matagal mo nang sinimulan. This is the start. Diretso lang,” Vice told him.

5) Niel draws inspiration from his blind brother

Life has been tough for Niel Murillo, who is the fourth of eight children and recently stopped attending school due to financial difficulties. Despite this, he is hopeful he can use his talent to help his family.

His biggest inspiration is his brother, who lost his vision after being shot in the head years ago. Neil hopes that his dreams and personal success will pave the way to the improvement of his family’s welfare and help his blind brother be able to see again. Let’s see if Niel makes it in the competition, and if his audition video on YouTube (which has now garnered almost 2.3 million views) is any indication, he will be doing well.

More kilig moments await viewers as another love story unfolds between Ali and Nico, played by Prince Stefan, who recently joined that cast of the ABS-CBN primetime series “Till I Met You.”

Prince, who plays JC's new love interest, is thankful for the positive feedback he has received from fans since he first appeared in the JaDine-led series.

Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry, who famously played roommates Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing, respectively, on Friends, will have a reunion of sorts when their shows start airing on their new home, RTL CBS Entertainment.

The Odd Couple, starring Matthew Perry, will have the premiere of its third season on October 21. Matt LeBlanc’s new show Man With A Plan is set to premiere on October 28.

As both shows go on air this October, viewers can look forward to Friday night fun watching two different but humorous takes on the domestic challenges faced by modern guys.

Is ‘Daddy’ Fun Times really having fun?

Le Blanc’s new role in is a seeming departure from Joey Tribbiani’s womanizing as his equally hilarious role in Man With A Plan looks into the challenges that fatherhood pose.

In this new series, LeBlanc plays the role of Adam Burns, a contractor who finds himself taking care of his three kids when his wife, a stay-at-home Mom for 13 years goes back to work. While Adam wanted to call himself “Daddy Fun Times,” he discovers that parenthood is not always a smooth and easy ride.

As Adam gets to perform his new role as head of the household, he finds himself dealing with his kids’ internet addiction, untidiness, and the need for their wishes to be constantly indulged.

Among Adam’s misadventures is only having Listerine strips to offer when his kids look for snacks while on the way to school. Adam also forgets a universal sentiment among kids – that cleaning up and doing chores is no fun.

Adam also offers up some timeless fatherly advice. After his youngest daughter tells him that kindergarten frightens her, Adam says: “Honey, you should be worried – kids are mean. But just know, if you ever feel uncomfortable, just start swingin’ – a punch in the nose could be a real problem solver.”

Faced with these mounting pressures, can Adam really be the great father that his wife expects him to be?

For better or for worse

LeBlanc played a womanizer in Friends but it looks like he has passed on that role to his real-life buddy Matthew Perry, who is back on The Odd Couple as playboy sportswriter and radio sports host Oscar Madison. On the show, Oscar ends up living with his college friend, Felix Unger (played by Thomas Lennon), in a disorderly bachelor apartment, after his ex-wife divorces him for being thoughtless.

Going for a second shot at real love, Oscar copes with his new life together with Felix, a clean freak whose desire for a clean apartment puts him at odds with his divorcee friend. And even as Oscar begins dating other women, he never quite moves on from his previous marriage.

As Oscar and Felix try to get past their differences, will they finally find their dream romance by season three?

GMA Network has retaken the lead in nationwide TV ratings, resulting from its stronger performance in all timeblocks, according to data from the industry’s trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

For the period September 1 to October 13 (with October 9 to 13 based on overnight data), GMA overtook its closest competitor in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) with an average people audience share of 38.3 percent, besting ABS-CBN’s 37.6 percent.

GMA likewise remained the undisputed ratings leader in viewer-rich Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of all viewers in urban TV homes in the entire country, with 43.4 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 32.3 percent.

In Mega Manila, another traditionally strong area for GMA representing 59 percent of urban viewers nationwide, the Network kept its total day ratings advantage with 46.1 percent versus ABS-CBN’s 28.2 percent.

During partial October (October 1 to 13), GMA particularly showed a stronger following on weekday evening primetime in NUTAM, where its people audience share reached 40 percent against ABS-CBN’s 37.3 percent.

Moreover, in comparison with ABS-CBN, more programs from GMA landed in the partial October list of 30 top-rating shows in Urban Luzon with a total of 18.

The well-loved Kapuso telefantasya Encantadia grabbed the number one spot in the Urban Luzon chart, while emerging as the highest-rating Kapuso program in National Urban Philippines.

The recently launched Kapuso primetime show Alyas Robin Hood, primetime newscast 24 Oras, award-winning comedy program Pepito Manaloto, multi-awarded news magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, weekly drama anthology Magpakailanman, and weekend primetime offering Hay Bahay! were also among the top 10 programs in Urban Luzon during the covered period.

Other top-rating Kapuso programs during the period include 24 Oras Weekend, Ismol Family, Sunday PinaSaya, Wowowin, Someone to Watch Over Me, Eat Bulaga, Imbestigador, Superstar Duets, #Like, Dear Uge,and Sa Piling ni Nanay per Nielsen data.

Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB), “The Third Party” tells the story of Andi (Locsin), a woman who is still not over her ex-boyfriend and high school best friend Max (Milby). After some years, their paths cross again and Andi hopes that this becomes the perfect time to rekindle their romance. Her hope crushes after Max introduces her to his partner Christian (Marudo).

Andi is ready to move on again until in an interesting twist of fate, an untoward incident forces her to run back to Max and asks if she could live with him and Christian. As Andi tries one more time to win back the heart of Max, Christian is determined to do everything to keep him.

The multi-awarded Locsin said in an interview in “Tonight With Boy Abunda” that everyone can surely relate to the film, especially those who have had their hearts broken before. Locsin explains: “Kasi lahat po tayo ay nagmahal at nasaktan, nagmaganda at umasa pero minsan, may kapalit na.”

Kapamilya Heartthrob Milby’s character Max who may have taken the break up badly at the start, has already moved on and is now in a tight relationship with Christian. This is the case until he sees ex-girlfriend Andi and feels his heart beat for her again. Milby says it’s about taking a bit something from the past to learn how to deal much with the present and what could be the future. “It’s about making mistakes but realizing that those mistakes will become good blessings,” Milby says.

Christian, played by another Kapamilya Heartthrob Marudo, who is settled with Max, will find Andi’s entry, albeit accidental, very intrusive. “Hindi puwedeng ganoon kasi dalawa kayo sa relasyon,” Marudo says of his character’s perception.

In the circus of it all, Andi trying to win Max back and Christian doing everything to keep their relationship – whose love will prevail?

It was a day full of fun and festivities for the supporters of Jodi Sta. Maria and Ian Veneracion as the Kapamilya stars delivered a huge dose of kilig and surprises in their fans day held at Glorietta 2 Activity Center brought by Jeepney TV and Cinema One in partnership with Ayala Malls.

Hosted by MOR 101.9’s DJ Jhai Ho, the event thrilled fans as they got to see Jodi and Ian up close and sent their love through their deafening cheers and screams that filled the whole activity center. The popular tandem also did not disappoint with performances that brought kilig, which sent fans into a frenzy.

The tandem of Jodi and Ian first blossomed in the hit Kapamilya series “Pangako Sa’Yo” where they played lovers Amor Powers and Eduardo Buenavista. The former’s outstanding portrayal in the series also recently got a nod in the 2016 International Emmy Award where she is nominated as Best Actress.

Aside from television, Jodi and Ian’s chemistry was brought to the big screen as they starred in Star Cinema movie “All You Need is Pag-Ibig,” which will be shown in Cinema One on October 21.

Fans are also able to see more of Jeepney TV’s Icon of the Month as she now returns to television in the rerun of the phenomenal hit series “Be Careful with My Heart,” which premiered last October 17.

Meanwhile, music also took center stage at the fans day with “The Voice Kids Season 3” finalist Justin Alva impressing the crowd with his vocal prowess. Teen star Andrea Brillantes, meanwhile, captured the hearts of viewers with her charming performance.

Revelations keep on coming in the ABS-CBN primetime series “Till I Met You” as Ali (JC Santos) finally came out as gay to his father Greggy (Robert Seña) and Basti (James Reid) confessed his plans of rekindling his romance with Iris (Nadine Lustre).

It was an emotional night (Oct 18) for viewers because Ali finally confronted his father and revealed to him his true identity after getting caught going on a date with a guy. Angered by his son’s confession, Greggy forced Ali out of their restaurant. But he was not alone in facing his biggest trial yet because Iris and Basti ran to his side and gave him the comfort that he needed.

While Ali is in conflict with his dad, everything in Basti’s life seems to be falling into place. He finally had the chance to meet Iris’ family, including her mother Cassandra (Carmina Villarroel). Showing his clear intentions, he confessed to Lolo Soc (Noel Trinidad) that he plans to pursue his granddaughter and will do what it takes to win her back.

“Who did Negan kill?”

That has been the question plaguing the minds of The Walking Dead fans around the world following the cliffhanger ending to season 6 earlier this year. Fans don’t have to wait much longer to find out with the highly anticipated Season 7 premiering on FOX on October 24th at 11:35 AM and 8:55 PM, on the same day as the US premiere.

To kick off this latest season, FOX is launching ‘The Riding Dead,’ an exclusive VR campaign that places fans in the world of a zombie outbreak. “You’ve picked the wrong day to be stuck in a traffic jam…” says FOX as the premise of the stunt. Partnering with Samsung and GrabCar, FOX will offer passengers an opportunity to experience their ride immersed amongst ‘walkers,’ as zombies are commonly referred to in the series, using Virtual Reality technology, promising a ride they will never forget.

Charo Espedido, Head of Marketing and Programming at FOX Networks Group Philippines, said the campaign aims to excite new and die-hard fans alike.

“This campaign was created specifically for fans in Southeast Asia with all the VR content shot in the region as well. We wanted to bring new fans into The Walking Dead world but also heighten the anticipation amongst the fans who have been following the series over the last 6 seasons, especially given the massive cliffhanger in last season’s finale episode. Kapamilya loveteam Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla once again proved their power and influence in digital media as they dominated the Push Awards 2016 held recently at Dolphy Theater, where celebrities with the biggest online influence online were honored by ABS-CBN entertainment site PUSH.com.ph.

Like in last year's ceremony, the "Barcelona" stars brought home all the awards as a tandem: the Push Elite Tandem of the Year awarded to them by a distinguished panel of judges, and the fan-voted Digital Media Awards, namely the Push Like Tandem, Push Tweet Tandem, Push Gram Tandem, and Push Play Tandem awards.

They also got the most number of votes in categories. Kathryn won the Push Tweet Female Celebrity and Push Gram Female Celebrity awards, while Daniel nabbed the Push Tweet Male Celebrity award.

Singer Yeng Constantino was also among the major winners as she was hailed the Push Elite Female Celebrity, Push Like Female Celebrity, Push Tweet Music Artist, and Push Play Female Celebrity. Darren Espanto, meanwhile, was named the Push Elite Music Artist, Push Like Male Celebrity, Push Like Music Artist, and received the Awesome Popular Song Cover award for "I Believe."

The Unkabogable star Vice Ganda also shone as he won the Push Gram Male Celebrity, Push Play Male Celebrity, Push Elite Male Celebrity awards, and received the Awesome Popular Movie Performance for "Beauty and the Bestie."

Teen star Ylona Garcia also proved that her time has come as she was named the Push Elite Newcomer, Push Gram Newcomer, and Push Play Newcomer.

Meanwhile, LizQuen fans were given the Push Ultimate Fan award for posting the most number of tweets during the voting period.

All the winners in the Digital Media Awards and Awesome Awards categories were determined by online votes and validated by third-party auditing group SGV & Co.

The Push Elite Awards, meanwhile, were selected from all the winners in the Digital Media Awards by a distinguished panel composed of ABS-CBN chief digital officer Donald Lim, Head of Cinema One Ronald Arguelles, bloggers Albert Abelido and Flowell Galindez, Tempo entertainment editor Nestor Cuartero, TV and film director Mae Cruz-Alviar, doctor, lawyer and professor Mr. Joey Montemayor, and director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

PUSH Awards is the first-ever award giving body in the Philippines that recognizes the influence of celebrities that have made a mark in the online world in the previous year based on their online reach and influence, popular votes, and excellence. It honors celebrities regardless of network affiliation.
