Jericho Rosales finally returns to primetime and topbills a story that will show that true love can withstand the test of time in “Magpahanggang Wakas” premiering this Monday (Sept 19) on ABS-CBN.

Watch the country’s international superstar as he plays Waldo, a young man who shares a deep love with Aryann (Arci Munoz). Although both were young, their love for each other was undeniably genuine and true.

One night, however, changed their story as Waldo accidentally killed a man who attempted to rape Aryann. Waldo was convicted of the crime and was sent to prison. Feeling responsible for Waldo’s misfortune, Aryann took on different jobs to raise money to get him out of jail and met Tristan (John Estrada) who gave her the hand she was desperately looking for.

Not soon after being freed however, Waldo faced the vengeful brother of the man he killed and was fatally shot. Waldo falls of a cliff and drifts into the sea which made everyone, except Aryann, believe that he was dead.

Having slowly accepted Waldo’s death, Aryann moved on and found her way to Tristan, the man who didn’t take advantage of her vulnerability during her darkest times. The two fall in love with each other and were set to be wed.

During the announcement of their wedding however, Aryann realizes the undeniable truth that Waldo is alive. Waldo and Aryann cross paths but Aryann is no longer sure if she still shares the love they once had.

Internationally acclaimed Filipino independent filmmaker Lav Diaz’ film “Ang Babaeng Humayo” (“The Woman Who Left”) won the prestigious Golden Lion for Best Film, the highest honor given at the 73rd Venice Film Festival last Saturday (Sep 10).

“This is for my country, for the Filipino people, for our struggle and the struggle of humanity,” said Diaz in his acceptance speech.

Produced by ABS-CBN’s Cinema One Originals and Diaz’ Sine Olivia, “Ang Babaeng Humayo” tells the story of Horacia (Charo Santos), a woman seeking revenge after being convicted for decades for a crime she didn’t commit.

This is the first time the Philippines won in the Venice Film Festival, which is considered one of most prestigious in the world like the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin Film Festival.

Variety’s film critic Guy Lodge, in a review, said “The latest supersized opus from Filipino maximalist Lav Diaz is a powerful and, by his standards, refreshingly contained moral study.”

“Ang Babaeng Humayo” also marks the movie comeback of former ABS-CBN president and now chief content officer Charo Santos, who also earned positive reviews from critics for her role in the nearly four-hour long film.

In an article written by Clarence Tsui of The Hollywood Reporter, Charo was praised for her “majestic” and “sturdy” performance. Variety’s Lodge, meanwhile, tweeted “Woman Who Left star Charo Santos is the real Oscar frontrunner.”

The movie also stars award-winning actor John Lloyd Cruz in another must-see and daring performance.

Lav, Charo, John Lloyd, and Cinema One head Ronald Arguelles represented the country at the Venice Film Festival and attended various functions such as press conference, red carpet premiere, and the awards gala.

ABS-CBN’s newest talent-reality program “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” immediately captivated viewers nationwide as its search for the members of the ultimate Pinoy boyband kicked off last weekend (September 10 and 11).

According to data from Kantar Media, viewers nationwide tuned in to watch the first batch of aspiring singing heartthrobs show off their charm and talent that “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” was the most watched program last weekend.

Last Saturday (Sept 10), the show registered a national TV rating of 34.4%, versus its rival program on GMA, “Pepito Manaloto,” which only got 21.4%.

The episode of “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” also rated highly last Sunday (Sept 11) with 36.4%, or 18 points higher than “Ismol Family’s” 17.9%.

During its premiere, viewers got a taste of what qualities superstar judges Vice Ganda, Sandara Park, Yeng Constantino, and Aga Muhlach look for in a boyband.

The lucky boyband member wannabe’s who got the judges’ sweet yeses were the Swabeng Shy Guy of Caloocan Allen Cecilio, Hunky Haranista of Valenzuela Ford Valencia, Romantic Athlete of UK Markus Peterson, and Kanto Boy Next Door of Cebu Niel Murillo.

Budding musicians Migz and Maya, Star Music’s newest acoustic duo are now ready to make their own mark in the country’s music scene with the release of their debut, self-titled album released by the label.

“Migz and Maya” received mainstream recognition when they recorded a cover of “Ambon,” a Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2016 entry as the official theme song of the Star Cinema movie “How to Be Yours.” But even before this, they already performed in sold-out shows as a duo and had their fair share of fame as up-and-coming artists individually.

Migz or Miguel Haleco, a music production graduate from the College of St. Benilde, became an online sensation for his song covers on YouTube and for joining a TV network talent search. Maya or Angeli Mae Flores, on the other hand, used to be a part of Pan-asian girl group Blush, joined a singing competition on a TV network, and was a grand finalist in “Star for A Night” that saw Sarah Geronimo bagging the top prize.

Now that they have launched their debut album, the pair is thankful for the opportunity to be part of the Star Music family.

“It is a dream come true. We are very honored, fortunate, and privileged. We feel a good kind of pressure on our side too, because we need to give it our best shot to impress and prove ourselves to the people who will be supporting and listening to us,” they said.

Their album is a collection of acoustic, easy-listening original songs and covers, including “Ambon,” as well as the carrier single “Hibang,” a song entry from the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs Top 100.

It also carries their own unique and relaxing versions of “Stay,” “One More Chance,” “Suntok sa Buwan,” “Paano Na Kaya,” “Ipagpatawad Mo,” “Paano Ba Magmahal,” and “Lihim,” Migz’s own composition.

Migz, who chose the songs on the album together with Maya, said, “We want people to feel as at ease as the album itself. It is very ‘easy-listening’ and very relatable.”

Maya, meanwhile, said, “It’s a love story that we know a lot of people can relate to. So we hope that we can make them through the rollercoaster of love.

Completing the track list are “Mahal Ko O Mahal Ako,” “Para Lang Sa ‘Yo,” “Ikaw,” “Baby I Do,” “Hanggang,” and “Makita Kang Muli.”

“Migz and Maya” was produced by Jack Rufo, a former member of the band, Neocolors, and the composer of “O Pag-Ibig” from Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2016. It can now be streamed on Spotify and is now available at all record bars nationwide for P199. Actress Jodi Sta. Maria became the newest contestant to win the P1 million jackpot prize in ABS-CBN’s top-rating game show “Minute to Win It: Last Man Standing” after completing her Ultimate Challenge last Monday (Sept 19).

“I just thought I needed to finish the game. I needed to give what was required of me. I didn’t mind the audience. I went to ‘Minute to Win It’ to play, enjoy, and experience the game. The expectation of winning was not with me,” shared Jodi.

Jodi remained calm and focused while doing her Ultimate Challenge “Mouth to Mouth,” which tested her skill and quickness in pulling out a paper bill in between empty bottles without toppling them.

She took home a total cash prize of P1.07 million after defeating comedian Pooh in the Head-to-Head Challenge. Jodi said she will be donating her cash prize to charities and foundations she has long supported.

“Minute to Win It” continues to draw viewers nationwide and win in the ratings game, according to data from Kantar Media. Its episode last Monday recorded a national TV rating of 22.6%, compared to its rival program on GMA, “Wowowin,” which only garnered 17.6%.

Michael Weatherly may have said goodbye to his role as Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo on NCIS, but his new role does not take him far from the twists and turns of the justice system.

After playing the role of a senior field agent in 13 seasons of NCIS, Michael Weatherly is taking the lead in the brand new show BULL.

“I’m gonna miss his repressive sense of humor, what I won’t miss is wearing that gun, that was uncomfortable,” Weatherly said about his NCIS character during an interview.

BULL takes inspiration from the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, co-founder of top trial consulting firm Courtroom Sciences, Inc. (CSI), which has provided trial consulting services for Fortune 500 companies as well as talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

“It’s been amazing to play a character who is all about human connection, he’s about finding out why we do the things we do, but he’s also about getting to the truth of something,” Weatherly said in another interview.

Courtroom drama

In this new series, Weatherly shifts from law enforcement to trial analytics. His character, trial consultant Dr. Jason Bull, does everything to get the justice his clients deserve.

“What’s fascinating about the whole world of trial analytics and the sciences of it is that they’re looking at things that you don’t think about,” Weatherly said.

“He (Dr. Bull) looks at a jury trial and looks at the identities of everybody involved from the judge to the attorneys, to the jury, and the witness and defendant, and he figures out what everyone’s thinking,” he added.

The doctor is perfectly aware that the 12 ordinary people making up a jury have the power to decide a person’s fate at court. He also knows that these jurors possess a preconceived notion of the truth. That’s why the key to winning a trial is by winning over the jury.

Behind the scenes

Dr. Bull further understands that even the tiniest details such as relationship status, clothes, and hairstyle can turn the court against the defendant. To avoid an unfavorable outcome, he works with a team of experts to make sure that his clients are on their best behavior and will say the right things at the witness stand.

His staff includes a lawyer who acts as defense attorney in mock trials, a neurolinguistics expert who used to be a part of the Department of Homeland Security, a former detective from the New York Police Department, a haughty millennial hacker, and a fashion stylist.

“What this show really looks at are the choices that we make, and who we think we are versus how other people think we are, and it starts to get to a hall of mirrors. It takes very complex people to figure out complex people,” Weatherly said.

BULL also stars Freddy Rodriguez (Ugly Betty, Six Feet Under), Geneva Carr (Rescue Me, Law and Order: Criminal Intent), Annabelle Attanasio (The Knick, House M.D.), Chris Jackson (Oz), and Jaime Lee Kirchner (The Mob Doctor, Mercy) along with Weatherly.

Star Cinema finally released the official teaser-trailer of their upcoming romance-comedy film with a twist, "The Third Party."

The movie reunited the teamup of Sam Milby, Zanjoe Marudo, and Angel Locsin who already paired together separately in the previous movie and TV Series - Angel and Sam in"Only You" (2009) while Angel and Zanjoe in "One More Try" (2012).

ABS-CBN Corporation once again received honors from the International Emmy® Awards as Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria and ABS-CBN teleserye “Bridges of Love” picked up nominations at this year’s prestigious competition.

Jodi was recognized for her outstanding performance as Amor Powers in the 2015 remake of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” and is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress category against Judi Dench (United Kingdom), Grazi Massafera (Brazil), and Christiane Paul (Germany).

“Bridges of Love,” meanwhile, will be competing in the Best Telenovela category alongside telenovelas from Canada and Brazil. The series shares the tale of two brothers, Gael (Jericho Rosales) and Carlos (Paulo Avelino), who were bound by their promise to each other, separated by an unfortunate tragedy, and bridged together by love embodied by only one woman — the vivacious club dancer Mia (Maja Salvador).

“Bridges of Love” was the first Filipino series to air in the Latin American region, particularly in Peru via PanAmericana. It is followed by“Pangako Sa’yo,” which is currently airing in the said Peruvian TV channel. Aside from Peru, both series already aired in different countries in Asia and Africa.

Jodi and “Bridges of Love” are the only nominees that come from the Philippines among the 40 nominees across ten categories and 15 countries in this year’s awards.

A 21-year-old commercial model and aspiring heartthrob who has long been estranged from his celebrity dad, a renowned TV personality, will try his luck at becoming a boyband member when he auditions in ABS-CBN’s talent-reality show “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” this weekend (Oct 1 and 2).

While auditioning, the self-confessed ‘mama’s boy’ will see his dad for the first time in many years. Before this, he had only met his dad once and never had a relationship with him while growing up.

The aspiring boyband member also wants to give back to his mother, who has served as his inspiration and has sacrificed a lot for him. He also wants to follow in the footsteps of his mother, herself a former member of a popular 90s band.

He is just one of the auditionees fighting for their dreams and hoping to make it in the industry to provide a better future for their families.

Last weekend, Aeiou Villanueva successfully passed his audition. He wants to fulfill his dream to be able to pay for the medical expenses of his mom, who suffers from different illnesses and needs to undergo therapy.

There is also Neil Murillo, whose audition video on YouTube has now garnered almost 2.3 million views. Neil hopes that his dreams and personal success will pave the way to the improvement of his family’s welfare and help his blind brother be able to see again.

Who else will impress superstar judges Vice Ganda, Sandara Park, Yeng Constantino, and Aga Muhlach?

'Age doesn’t matter’ is given a different perspective in the latest season of Younger which premieres this October 2 on Sony Channel.

Forty-year-old single mother Liza Miller (Sutton Foster) was able to reinvent her career and her love life as a much younger woman. Now living two separate lives, Liza has to make sure no one discovers her secret.

Complications further arise in the returning season as a love triangle between Liza, her boyfriend, 26-year-old tattoo artist Josh (Nico Tortorella), and her boss, closer-in-age Charles (Peter Hermann) develops. While Liza begins to doubt her on-and-off relationship with Josh, she finds Charles interesting and starts falling for him.

Questions suddenly make Liza’s double life more difficult to handle. Will she choose Josh, who knows her secret and makes her life fresh and exciting? Or will she choose Charles, who can give her a more stable future? And the biggest question of all: Will Liza finally reveal her secret as new threats emerge? Will she have the guts to reveal it before more people find out?

With help from best friend Maggie (Debie Mazar) and colleague Kelsey (Hilary Duff), Liza has to face a tough call and decide as she deals with her dilemma and struggles with her situations as they become even more confusing.

Thousands of fans from different parts of the country united and flocked to the Araneta Coliseum to witness the gathering of ABS-CBN’s biggest and brightest stars in the “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano : Isang Pamilya Tayo The Anniversary Concert" held Saturday night (Oct 8).

Cheers and screams filled the Big Dome as the country’s biggest love teams, leading men, and stars joined f orces to show their love and gratitude for the teleserye’s phenomenal success.

Fans welcomed the whole cast of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” led by Coco Martin, who celebrated his birthday that night, with loud applause and deafening shrieks. The celebration continued with Coco giving a heartfelt tribute to “Da King” Fernando Poe Jr. in his rendition of the OPM classic “Doon Lang.”

Singers Ogie Alcasid, Kyla, Ayen Munji-Laurel, and Vina Morales took the crowd on a trip down memory lane as as they sang the theme songs of Coco’s ABS-CBN teleseryes.

Music also took center stage as Gary Valenciano sang “Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak,” the official soundtrack of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

Viewers also danced and grooved as Maja Salvador, Yassi Pressman, and Bela Padilla fired up the Araneta stage with their dance performances.

The night was also filled with kilig as Kapamilya loveteams James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine), Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador (ElNella), and McCoy De Leon and Elisse Joson (McLisse) serenaded the crowd with their song numbers.

The kiligfest continued as the stars of the newest Star Cinema offering “The Third Party” Angel Locsin, Zanjoe Marudo, and Sam Milby spread love in the whole venue.

“It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda and “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s” own McNeal “Awra” Briguela proved that they are both “Unkabogable” stars in their stand-up comedy act that brought laughter to the audience.

As the show ended, the cast of the top-rating series sent their words of love for the fans for their unwavering support and gave an early Christmas treat to everyone.

Since it started airing on television in September 2015, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” has ruled the ratings game as the country’s most watched program. It was recently commended by the Congress for its efforts in promoting crime awareness and prevention, as well as family values among its viewers. (TV Series Craze)
