Missed the award-winning star-studded movie before of Star Cinema called "Tanging Yaman"? Well, maybe this newest teleserye is the answer!

After its Twitter-trending teaser trailer earned rave reviews and hundreds of thousands of views online, newest family drama “The Greatest Love” finally comes to television soon on ABS-CBN to tell an unforgettable and extraordinary story of a mother’s selfless love.

Much of the hype and excitement surrounding the series is brought about by its trailer’s heart-rending plot twist: a mother suffering from sudden but profound memory loss that she is unable to recognize her own children fighting in front of her.

The series is led by an ensemble cast composed of veteran actors Sylvia Sanchez, Nonie Buencamino and Rommel Padilla, as well as Dimples Romana, Matt Evans, Arron Villaflor, and Andi Eigenmann.

Sylvia plays the character Gloria, a woman who, throughout her life, has given unconditional love to the people around her.

Through the years, Gloria has become a doting and selfless mother to Amanda (Dimples), Andrei (Matt), Paeng (Arron), and Lizelle (Andi).

However, a long-kept secret will shatter their once happy family, leading Gloria’s children to leave her one by one. As Gloria struggles to keep her family together, she starts to show symptoms of dementia and begins to lose pieces of her memory.

Her mission – to bring back the love her family once had for each other – becomes even more difficult as she races against time and tries to gather her memories before they are completely wiped out.

With scenes set against the picturesque landscapes of Quirino province, “The Greatest Love” is directed by Dado Lumibao and Mervyn Brondial.

According to the series’ creative manager, legendary writer Ricky Lee, “The Greatest Love” is not just about Gloria’s brain condition, but also about the “figurative dementia” of her kids.

“If you come to think of it, Gloria’s children are also suffering from memory problems. They forget that a mother is always going to be a mother. When you have lost in life, when people have forsaken you, when you have nowhere to go, there is that one person you can always run to and who will always accept you no matter – that is your mother,” Ricky said.

“Many children have ‘dementia.’ They don’t remember that their mother loves them very much even when they get reprimanded or if they get separated. In the end, a mother’s love is limitless,” he added.

Is there hope for Gloria to bring her family back together? Will she ever find happiness with the people she loves? Will she completely lose her identity, as well as the secrets she has kept in her heart all these years?

But before showing Gloria’s journey to motherhood, the series retraces her great love story in its first week showing young Gloria (Ellen Adarna) falling in love with boatman Peter (Ejay Falcon) and being forced to marry musician Andres (Junjun Quintana).

Joining the cast of “The Greatest Love” are Tonton Gutierrez, Alec Bovic, and Joshua Garcia.

Adding star power to the series is Megastar Sharon Cuneta, who just recently recorded the official theme song of the series, “The Greatest Love of All", with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, marking her first time to record a new version of a song for a teleserye.

Another source of Filipino pride is coming home.

"Ignacio de Loyola,” the first-ever Filipino produced movie screened at the Vatican, will finally be seen by Filipinos as it premieres on July 23 at The Theater at Solaire Resort and Casino, Paranaque City in a fund-raising dinner organized by the alumni of Ateneo de Manila University for the benefit of the Jesuit Infirmary and Jesuit Scholastics in the Philippines.

The special screening of the Jesuit Communications (JesCom)-produced full length independent film on the life of the Society of Jesus’ founder St. Ignatius of Loyola will start at 4pm, and will have a live performance of the musical scoring, composed by the “Maestro” Ryan Cayabyab, featuring the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ateneo Chamber Singers, under the masterful direction of Gerard Salonga.

“Ignacio de Loyola The Movie” takes a modern approach on the story of the very first Jesuit who is known as the “Saint of Second Chances.” It narrates the story of a sinner who realizes that the greatest battles are fought within -- the choice between violence and mercy, anger and forgiveness, hope and despair, darkness and light. Ignacio was a worldly soldier who gave up his dreams of knighthood after being crippled in battle. Eventually, he found the Jesuit order during his recovery.

Antonio Spadaro, S.J., director of La Civilta Cattolica — an Italian magazine founded by a group of Jesuits, who said, "I like this film so much because it gives you the meaning, the core of the life of Ignatius of Loyola. The Ignatius here is represented as a person of great spiritual dynamic and struggle. At the same time, it represents the interior life in action. So this movie gave me a lot and it is very well done.”

“Ignacio de Loyola The Movie” is an ambitious project, produced by Filipino filmmakers in collaboration with a European cast and crew. The scope of the film meant shooting the biopic almost entirely in Spain, Ignacio’s home, for about two months. It also stars a Spanish-speaking cast led by Andreas Muñoz, who portrayed the revered "sinner soldier-turned-Soldier of Christ."

Witness the making of the film in an ABS-CBN DocuCentral documentary airing on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel’s Documentary hour, that showcases behind the scene footage of the film, interviews with the actors as well as the Filipino crew including Cayabyab, who will all share their experiences and the challenges they encountered while making the film. The documentary airs this Saturday, July 16, at 10pm and on July 22 at 8pm on ANC’s Documentary Hour.

This time, the event is dubbed as "Shoot That Ball for a Cause."

Cinema One Originals and Sine Olivia-produced movie “Ang Babaeng Humayo” (The Woman Who Left), the comeback film of Charo Santos with multi-awarded actor John Lloyd Cruz, is the only Asian film in the Main Competition category to be screened in the 2016 Venice Film Festival this coming August 31 to September 10 in Lido, Venice.

“Congratulations to direk Lav Diaz for bringing honor and pride to our country once again. I am very proud and humbled to be part of this extraordinary film and excited for our Kapamilyas to watch it,” said Santos.

“Ang Babaeng Humayo” is Cinema One Originals production's biggest film to date and everyone in the team is excited with the dramatic comeback of Charo Santos," according to Ronald Arguelles, Cinema One channel head and the film’s executive producer.

The movie, directed by internationally acclaimed Filipino independent filmmaker Lav Diaz, was shot almost entirely in Santos’ hometown, Calapan, Mindoro. It revolves around Horacia Somorostro, a woman whose life has become an imprisonment with all its spins and randomness that made it very difficult, vicious, and inexplicable.

“The inspiration of the story is Tolstoy’s ‘God Sees the Truth but Waits.’ What really struck me when I read it was that neither of us really understands life. We don’t really know. This is one of the most essential truths of existence. And more often, we abide and succumb to life’s randomness,” shared Diaz, who is also the film’s editor and cinematographer.

Joining Santos and Cruz in the movie are Michael de Mesa, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, Marj Lorico, Mayen Estanero, Romelyn Sale, Lao Rodriguez, Jean Judith Javier, Mae Paner, and Kakai Bautista.

Cinema One Originals is an annual film festival spearheaded by Cinema One channel. It is now the longest running film festival in the country that produces its own content.

Xian Lim returns to“MMK” to take on the role of a young man who dreamt of becoming a radio personality despite his medical illnesses this Saturday (Aug 6).

Raymond (Xian) grew listening to the radio as it was the only means of entertainment for them in Sultan Kudarat. Tuning-in on a daily basis, Raymond realized that he wanted to grow up and become a radio personality.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Raymond was diagnosed with leukemia at a very young age. With the help of his mother Erlinda (Lara Quigaman), Raymond recovered from this challenge which turned out to be just the first of a long line of medical illnesses.

Raymond finally got his break when he was accepted to become a radio DJ for a radio station two hours away from his home and with the timeslot of 4 am. Having to deal with the stress of work while studying, Raymond’s white blood cell count dropped so low that Erlinda had to force Raymond to stop working until he finished his studies.

Will Raymond give up on his dream? Or will he prioritize his studies and health more?

ABS-CBN TV Programs Claim Leadership Both Online and on National TV

The comprehensive and informative news and current affairs programs and values-oriented entertainment programs of ABS-CBN are resonating with more Filipinos as reflected in the latest nationwide TV ratings showing ABS-CBN as the network of choice by more Filipino households in with an average national audience share of 47% vs GMA's 32%, according to data from Kantar Media.

Kantar Media data represent 100% of total Philippine TV viewing population as it uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes, as compared to other data reported in media that are limited to a specific geographic area or urban homes only.

Half of the total Philippine households tuned in to ABS-CBN’s primetime block, hitting a whopping national audience share of 50%, a solid 20-point lead over GMA’s 30%. The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.

Aside from primetime, ABS-CBN also ruled all time blocks nationwide for the month of July that include the morning block (6AM to 12NN) with 42% vs GMA’s 33%; noontime block (12NN to 3PM) with 45% vs GMA’s 33%; and afternoon block (3Pm to 6PM) with 47% vs GMA’s 32%.

ABS-CBN once again dominated the list of most watched programs in the country with its values-oriented programs. Topping the list as the runaway winner is “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” with an average national TV rating of 43.1%, beating its new rival “Encantadia” with a distant 19.9%.

It was followed by weekend top-raters “The Voice Kids” (36.9%), “Wansapanataym” (34.2%), and “Dolce Amore,” which clinched the fourth spot with an average national TV rating of 33.6% compared to its new Koreanovela rival “Descendants of the Sun,” which failed to land on the top 20 with only 15.7%.

“TV Patrol” remains to be the most-watched newscast in the country with 32% vs “24 Oras’” 19.5%, while current affairs programs “Rated K” and “SOCO” rated at 23.3% and 19.5% respectively.

Newest primetime game show “Minute to Win It,” on the other hand, debuted strongly with an average national TV rating of 17.3% vs “Wowowin’s” 14.5%.

Other Kapamilya shows in the top 20 list are “MMK “ (33.5%), “Home Sweetie Home” (25.7%), “Goin Bulilit” (24%), “Ipaglaban Mo” (19.8%), “TV Patrol Weekend” (19.6%), “It’s Showtime (Saturday)” (19.4), “It’s Showtime (Weekdays)” (18.5%), “Doble Kara” (18.2%), “Tubig at Langis” (17.3%), “Born for You” (17.3%), and “Be My Lady” (17.2%).

ABS-CBN still the most-watched network on TV while it also pioneered viewing of content online with video-on-demand services on TFC.tv for Kapamilyas living abroad and iWant TV and SKY On Demand locally.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN continues to lead the way in addressing the change in Filipinos’ viewing habits, as more and more Filipinos are consuming content online, by boosting the offerings of iWant TV. Primetime favorites such as “Dolce Amore,” “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” “Born for You,” and “Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7” as well as afternoon drama shows “Tubig at Langis” and “Doble Kara” are among the shows people can catch up on on the company’s video-on-demand offering.

The high viewership of ABS-CBN content in both television and online indicates that many Filipinos are consuming ABS-CBN content on multiple screens, which is in tune with the company’s goal of making content accessible to every Filipino anytime and anywhere through its new digital platforms, including overseas with the TFC subscribers as well as those on-the-go with ABSCBNmobile.

ABS-CBN’s hit legal drama “Ipaglaban Mo” celebrates its second year of educating viewers of their legal rights and responsibilities this whole month of August via special episodes beginning Saturday (Aug 6).

Kicking off the celebration is the show’s 100th episode titled “Kapansanan” topbilled by RK Bagatsing with Ria Atayde, Karen Reyes, Tanya Gomez, and Eric Fructuoso.

It features the story of a deaf-mute, mentally retarded Baldo (RK) who, because of his poor judgment, attacked Tina (Karen), a young woman he’s long been fancying. Tina, however, survived the ordeal and filed a case against Baldo. What will the rule of court be? How will his mental capacity affect the case?

The anniversary month also features must see performances coming from Jake Cuenca, Diego Loyzaga, Miles Ocampo, Nikki Valdez, Antoinette Taus, and Ara Mina.

Since “Ipaglaban Mo” premiered on ABS-CBN in 2014, the show has been consistently captivating viewers in its timeslot because of its timely and relevant stories that not only showcase good values, but also informs viewers of their rights.

Before One Direction became a sensation, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson were solo acts who dreamt of stardom. The five then-aspiring singers auditioned at The X Factor UK’s seventh season, but while not all of them got three yeses, everyone managed to make it to second round.

At the end of the bootcamp stage, none of them qualified for the Boys category. Still, the judges saw the talent in the five aspirants and gave them the chance to compete as a group.

With Simon Cowell as their mentor, the five had to prove themselves worthy of advancing in the competition. But earlier on the day of the Judge’s House stage, Tomlinson suffered from a sea urchin sting. Nervous and with Tomlinson just making it in time from the hospital, the band covered the song “Torn” at Cowell’s home in Marbella, Spain. It was at this moment that The X Factor judge saw their potential as artists.

“My head, it’s saying it’s a risk and my heart it’s saying that you deserve a shot,” Simon said as he was giving his verdict. “I’ve gone with my heart. You’re through.”

One Direction, as the boys came to be known, finished third at The X Factor UK. But despite not winning the top prize, the group still has one of most inspiring stories at the talent contest.

Many other artists like 1D did not win The X Factor UK. And yet, they found themselves on a life-changing journey as they strove for success.

Here are other extraordinary artists who started out at The X-Factor UK:

Little Mix

Long before the hit single “Secret Love Song” gave everyone an earworm, the girl group Little Mix competed at The X-Factor UK and won—the only group to ever win the competition so far. Like One Direction, the group’s members started out as solo acts.

On their first public performance, the girls did a rendition of “Super Bass,” which was praised by The X Factor judge Louis Walsh for its “brilliant chemistry.” For that performance, fellow judge Gary Barlow described the group as the “best girl band that’s ever been on The X Factor.”

Leona Lewis

After her beautiful rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at her audition, 21-year old receptionist Leona Lewis was described by Walsh as having “the complete package.” In one of her bootcamp performances, her would-be mentor Cowell said that Lewis is of a “totally different league.” She eventually won The X Factor UK’s third season.

Among her most memorable hits are “Bleeding Love” and “Better in Time” from the album Spirit.

4th Impact

Sisters Almira, Celina, Irene, and Mylene Cercado from the Philippines already joined and won several contests in the Philippines before auditioning for The X Factor UK. Their rendition of Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” earned them a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges.

The group’s would-be mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini told the girls that they “took the Wembley’s roof off,” while Cowell thought their audition was one of the best he had ever seen. Their audition went viral after it aired. Though 4th Impact did not make it to the finals, it was a dream come true for the sisters who’ve always wanted to perform for Cowell.
